Applications are invited to work as a Specialist Research Technician in the Raman Diagnostics Group in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton. Job description
The Raman Spectroscopy group is focused on using spectral imaging to obtain biochemical fingerprints of disease states for diagnostic purposes.
You will join our collaborative team working on a project to analyse the spectral fingerprints in CSF and Blood biofluids. This is part of a larger project which brings together biophysicists, clinicians and mathematicians in the University. The post will be managed by Prof. Amrit Mudger with regular meetings with Prof. Sumeet Mahajan and the HOPE teams.
Desirable Criteria
You will ideally hold a PhD in Neurosciences or a related field, along with an understanding of diagnostic landscape of dementia biomarkers. You will have experience in microscopy, biochemistry, sample processing and have a proactive approach to learning methods like Raman spectroscopey. You are highly organised and driven, you will demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to conduct original research ideally evidenced by peer-review publications.
